We ALL Need to Meditate
We ALL need to Meditate. Seriously. It gives us much needed perspective: we get space from our minds that think they know everything. We begin to see the world thru calm, and that can be profound. Wisdom bubbles forth - Insight, and Intuition, and begins to direct us much more clearly...a deeper intelligence than the thinking mind.
We become less reactive, softer.
You'll fight less with your partner, and understand them more.
Breathing, with nothing else going on for a while, rejuvenates and heals you. Silence IS Golden. Even when asleep we often don't get a break from our minds: we dream, so we may not really rest.
I crave meditation now, because it makes me feel much better. Plus I've seen what it does for my mind, and for my effectiveness in life.
It's not everything. But it's very important.
And meditation is enhanced by a few things: the right environment - a beautiful space, not a bright, noisy one, enough sleep - so u don't fall asleep, real food - so you are calm and have energy, and a body that feels good - yoga.
One thing is for sure: when you meditate, you meet yourself, very directly. You feel and relax and offer yourself your own attention and you find out how you're
really doing and what you really need.
Meditation is Self Love.
But I'll give a warning too: meditation will change your life, and quite possibly everything in it. And it will all be for the better. You will discover, very slowly, that you're not in charge, and that you don't even know as much as you think you do. You'll notice that your mind is often wrong, as insight begins to fill you with what's true.
Plus you'll have more intuition, and that can be a real shock.
Yet you'll find that you are held, in this world...that there's a Loving Intelligence that is working things out, perfectly, and more and more you're falling in sync with it,
as Understanding within you grows.
But first, meditation may shake you up. You and your life. You'll become less attached to outer particulars, as a core of strength and understanding - love - grows inside you. You will truly begin to know yourself as a pilgrim: in this world, but not of it.
Meditation is an adventure. It's not easy. I think it purifies you. But it's a great adventure, exciting at times, totally satisfying at times, and incredibly, profoundly rewarding in time.
But for now, if you're just starting out, let it be about rest, "you" time, a time of coming home to peacefulness, wisdom, and calm. Insight will begin to happen, too. It's all there for the person who chooses to simply relax and be. It can show you how to live your life with wisdom, and with love. Your intelligence, and even your sense of humour, will grow through meditation. You will become a better lover, and better friend.
The truth is: you are a Light, within a Greater Light.
Meditation will show u this, too.
We're all going to become meditators, in time. One of my Christian friends even does it, he calls it 'soaking', as in soaking in the presence of God.
Meditaion will heal you, and it will heal the world.
