1. Diet really matters. Eating less inflammatory foods is key. Hint; the least inflammatory foods are cooked non-starchy veggies, and healthy oils olive oil and coconut oil. Clearly the most inflammatory foods are sugar, gluten, dairy and a few others. For many people grains in general are inflammatory.
2. Too much tech-exposure in a day can leave you buzzy. And then you don't sleep well. (electro-smog?). Balance that with #3 below:
3. Physical activity during the day is essential. Bodies weren't made to sit on the bus, then at work, then in front of the TV. I walk, personally, every day.
4. Stresses also messes up your sleep (as well as everything else). Reduce stress by: walking more, breathing more (meditation aka structured breathing), yoga (aka stretching, you don't have to get fancy), and herbal teas like rooibos, licorice, nettle, mint, or whatever YOUR body likes.
And if you haven't heard: "Sleep Mastery" (getting enough high quality sleep) is one of the main keys of high performers.
It's not just about enough sleep... it's about QUALITY SLEEP. And as your digestion works better, as your life works better (your day, your routine, your relationships), your sleep will work better.
Today getting enough sleep is all the rage. Suddenly we're all realizing that ZZzz's are as important as ABC's - sleep is basic, and if you don't get enough of it, you're more likely to make mistakes, have less mood control, crave more carbs, age faster, and be less good in bed (What? No!). Turns out "I'll sleep when I'm dead" isn't a good plan after all.
But *how* to sleep well? We hear over and over to reduce screen time in the evening. I even read over and over not to keep any electronics in the bedroom - but not easy to do if your bedroom doubles as your office.
So what then, are the other keys to ZZz's?
