The main exercise we should do all be doing is really weight-bearing exercise. And even 20 min's does wonders for us. That's what I do, and then other days of the week I do yoga (often at home), run, hike, or whatever else I feel moved to.
The 3 kinds of exercise are Weight-Bearing, Cardio, and Stretching.
How I Exercise Now
We want to be doing some kind of exercise at least 3-4 times a week, mainly to clear stress and negativity from our system. And walking is definitely included in exercise, in my opinion. Now I maintain a healthy body by simply doing:
I thought I’d share a bit about how I work out, since I do a system that is leading-edge, for that last 8 years now.
This is a system of weight-training that was recommended to me by my meditation teacher. It's called The Power of 10 (the book), and it's based on an earlier method called Superslow. I sometimes jokingly call this, 'Western Yoga', because it is a system of weight-training that is done very slowly and mindfully, with attention to posture, breathing and movement, just like in yoga.
I'll confess, this method is... a little boring. But it's intense, effective, and the best part is: I'm in and out of the gym in 30 minutes. So it's great for people who are doing this for health reasons and don't want to live at the gym. I work out once or twice a week, and on the other days I do yoga or run (or dance, or...).
Superslow was discovered while working with older women with osteoporosis. They slowed down the workout to reduce the impact on bones…and surprise…they found they got better results in less time. Cool, yes?
